Caravan tour departs from The Inn at St. John's and tours along a scenic route to to Roush Automotive Collection and Museum: a 30,000 sq. ft. private facility dedicated to the preservation of the heritage of Roush Enterprises, featuring multi-media exhibits, artifacts, memorabilia and more than 110 vehicles. The tour will then head to downtown Northville to enjoy lunch at the Garage, a first class restaurant uniquely set in a fully restored 1940s gas station.

Learn more about how to value unrestored cars: Benefit from the knowledge and expertise of Dave Kinney, Donald Osborne, Alain Squindo, and Keith Martin who will discuss the difference between barn finds, old restorations, and true preservation class cars. Find out what’s worth paying a premium for and why.

Preserve It Versus Restore It
10:30 a.m.
A panel of three expert restorers and three staunch preservationists look at an unrestored car and share with the audience their strategies and thoughts about what the best approach to the car is. David Burroughs, Mark Gessler, Malcolm Collum, Werner Maier, Brian Joseph, and Tim McNair will discuss: Do it all, do nothing or something in between. This highly interactive seminar will pit six opinionated experts against each other and the audience will be invited to join with questions and comments at any point.

Design Seminar

Virgil Exner, Jr. will conduct the Featured Designer Seminar at this year's St. John's Concours D' Elegance, honoring Exner's Chrysler design work from his earliest "Idea Cars" and production design to his notable "Forward Look." Virgil Exner, Jr. will show rare images from his extensive personal archives. The panel of distinguished automotive designers will include Darwin Hawthorne, former Design Executive at Ford Design; Paul Down, Department of Art, Art History & Design; Brandon Faurote, Head of Chrysler Design, Chrysler Group LLC; William Porter, former Chief Designer for Pontiac; and Jeff Godshall, Automotive Writer and Former Chrysler Designer.

RM Auctions, the official auction house of the Concours d’Elegance of America at St. Johns, returns to America’s automotive heartland to celebrate 20 years of record-setting auctions in the Detroit area. A long-standing summer tradition for motoring enthusiasts, the single-day sale boasts a reputation for including a full range of American classics, with many being conceived and built right in the Motor City. This year’s auction will feature an exciting selection of more than 80 motor cars from such renowned Detroit-made marques as Chrysler, Packard, Cadillac, and Lincoln along with additional European highlights. Admission to the auction is restricted to qualified media, consignors and registered bidders only. Visit historic downtown Northville and check out the Concours-quality display of vintage automobiles, many of which are past Concours d’Elegance of America show cars. Dance the night away to swing music in Northville’s beautiful town square. Enjoy unique shopping and restaurants, too. Free shuttle to and from The Inn at St. John’s!
